Christmas In July!

Welcome to Poppystamps Blog Blitz!

Poppystamps has an amazing new release launching today so get ready for an exciting two weeks as we, the Poppystamps Design Team, will be presenting some of the many wonderful versatile dies.

For my first contribution, I chose the new Cute Cottage [1089] to create a Christmas In July card.

I created the snowy background from white chalk ink and Q-tips.  Just dab and dot and continue until you are happy with the background.  It is okay if some are light and some are smudgy.  

Next, I used the dies to do all my cutting before assembling the card.  I ran the cottage through twice so I could use a lighter shade of brown for the windows.  As my cats love to sit in the window and watch outside, especially when it snows, I took some of the Baby Kittens to place in the windows. 

I traced the outline of the cottage on a yellow sheet of paper.  Then I cut off the chimney and cut the cottage out with scissors.  Then I used foam adhesives to attach the front of the cottage [brown] to the background in order to give it a bit of depth.   I wanted to make it look like there was light inside and white seemed to wash it out a bit so I chose yellow as the background shape to the cottage.

I wanted to add a couple of trees to the card so I ran the Large Flourish Tree [1088] through twice.  Before attaching the cottage to the card, I lined up each tree, one slightly taller than the other, and then glued them on.  Next I trimmed off the bottoms of the trees.  Finally, I glued the cottage layers.  

I finished the cottage by attaching the Frosted Roof and Ledges [1095] that I ran through my Big Shot with glitter paper and added a red heart embellishment.  Lastly, I added Christmas [from the Merry Christmas background #1065] to the top of the card.

Butterflies for Mother's Day

In thinking ahead to Mother's Day, I created a simple card to send love to Mum on the wings of Poppystamp's newest butterflies.

Supplies:

Poppystamps Cheviot Butterfly die [1024]

Poppystamps Delaney Butterfly die [1028]

Poppystamps Longier Stem die [1012]

Cardstock

Greeting

This is a simple card to make.  Simply cut out three Cheviot butterfly backs and three Delaney Butterfly outlines.  I glued them together and set aside.

Next, cut out the Longier Stemp on the top, reverse the direction and cut along the bottom.  Be sure to keep the stems that are cut out. 

Glue the purple cardstock to the cardbase.  Then glue the Longier stems back into the place they were cut out.  Then adhere the butterflies across the middle of the card.

Your greeting can go inside and it can be for Mother's Day or Hello or Birthday or whatever you like!

Easter Tag and Place Card

For my post, I prepared a small card to be used as a place setting; however, it could also be used as a thank you card or a card to accompany a gift as well.  The next item is a gift tag that could be tied to or tucked into an Easter basket.  I used a sticker for the sentiment.  Frohe Ostern for my friends in Germany.   Enjoy!

For the place card setting (below) you could leave the additional small sprigs , chain of flowers in the center and the second bunny off the card and write the name on or you could open the card and write the name on the card.

Adhesives, cotton tip for bunny's tail, cardstock.

Easter Tag

This tag can easily have a TO: and FROM: added at the top or you could write it on the back of the tag and tie it to the handle of an Easter Basket!

Adhesives, baker's twine, cotton tip for bunny's tail, cardstock.

For Father (Fur Vater)

MemoryBox has some great new stencils.  I spent summers in Canada and I always loved the white Birch Trees so I jumped at the chance to use the background stencil for a birthday card perfect for a Father.  This is a copy of my blog submission for the Poppystamps Design Team.

The greeting used for the banner is a German sticker - Fur Vater.  I sponged the color blue (same color ink used to top the stencil background) around the banner edges.  I ran the Grassland Border die in two colors of green and then ran the Trotting Pony twice in a dark brown and a light brown.  

For the inside (photo below), I cut two circles one blue and one white.  Then I added the birthday greeting sticker to the white inner circle.  Then I used to circle brads to affix it to the white background inside the card.
